General guide for calculation instructions (Concrete Column)
This guide gives a quick walkthrogh of how to use the program.
The program operates in two modes, design or control. In both modes a 2:nd order moment is calculated in both directions for each Ultimate Limit State load case. In design the required reinforcement is then calculated to withstand this moment and in control the user defines a reinforcement distribution and the program calculates the capacity which then is compared with this moment.
A number of load cases for the Ultimate Limit State and The Serviceability Limit State can be defined.
Flexural buckling for the column/wall is checked with regard to the Stiffness method EC2 5.8.7 or the Curvature method EC2 5.8.8 depending on the users choice.
Design result according to the stiffness method. In this case the biaxial check is decisive.
And associated reinforcement.
In Control mode the user defines a reinforcement distribution.
Control result according to the curvature method. In this case the biaxial check is inadequate and the reinforcement has to be increased.
For load cases in the Serviceability Limit State stresses are checked and crack width is calculated.
Finally when the results are satisfactory the output can be sent to a printer.
