The calculation is made according to EN 1997-1 6.5.3
The following inequality shall be satisfied:
- Hd < Rd + Rp,d
- Hd = horizontal load
- Rd = design shear resistance due to friction at plate bottom
- Rp,d = resistance due to earth pressure on the plate sides (not considered in the program).
Horizontal load
- Hd = Hx
or - Hd = Hy
If a horizontal load acts in both directions the resulting load will be calculated as:
- Hd = (Hx2 + Hy2)0.5
Shear resistance
Cohesionless soil, Over-consolidated clay and Medium soil
The calculation will be made for drained conditions
- Rd = (Vd tan δd) / γR,h
- Vd = vertical load including dead load
- δd = effective design friction angle
- For cast-in-situ foundations: δd = φd'
- For precast foundations: δd = 2/3 φd'
- φd'= design friction angle
- γR,h = partial resistance factor considering uncertainties in the analytical model is predefined for design approach 3
Normally consolidated clay
The calculation will be made for undrained conditions
- Rd = Ac' cu / γR,h ≤ 0.4 Vd
- Ac' = effective foundation area
- cu = undrained shear strength
Rock
- Plane grinded rock: Rd = 0.45 Vd
- Otherwise: Rd = 0.75 Vd
- Plane grinded rock: Rd = 0.4 Vd
- Otherwise: Rd = 0.75 Vd
