File (Frame Analysis)
The File menu option contains several options that are identical to other Windows programs, except for the Wizards option as seen below. Wizards is a separate module that can be bought to the Frame Analysis program.
Wizards
The Eurocode Wizard option shows a dialogue box where various pre-defined beams, frames, rafters and trusses can be stated easily. For some of them roof, snow, wind and imposed loads as well as load combinations for ultimate- and serviceability limit states can be generated automatically according to Eurocode.
Start the Wizards command by pressing the magic wand icon ()
Common for most trusses is the wind-input.
Z-reference is the bottommost point of the truss, usually set to the height of the building minus the height of the roof structure. I.e. if the value is set to 0 the truss would be standing on the ground. In EN 1991-1-4 it is reffered to as ze = h.
Building width: The parameter set as b in the picture above
c/c distance: Spacing of the trusses
Internal wind factor: A factor for the internal wind factor , cpi
Truss
Necessary geometrical data and current loads are stated for Truss.
Types
Two types of trusses can be generated from this wizard by activating any of the buttons at the bottom to the right.
Bracing
If this option is activated the top chord is assumed laterally supported the upper edge when a design is performed.
Preview
Current geometry can be studied in the wizard with the Preview option.
Loads
The following loads will be defined:
Dead load
The dead load of the roof on the left- and the right hand of the roof are stated. Dead load can also be generated automatically via load generation as seen below.
Snow load
The snow load on the left- and the right hand of the roof is stated for different snow situations.
Wind load
The wind load on the left- and the right hand of the roof is stated for different wind situations.
Loads and load combinations can also be generated automatically by the program, see example in the appendix.

Frame truss
All input is done according to Truss .
Bracing
If this option is activated the top chord is assumed laterally supported the upper edge when a design is performed.

Loads
In addition to what has been described for Truss the following loads are stated:
Dead load
G2 Addition for furnished part.
G3 Self weight collar beams.
G4 Self weight attic floor.
G5 Addition for furnished part.
G6 Self weight post wall.
Imposed load
This is where Imposed load for rooms in residential buildings, dead and live part and load for attic space, live part are stated.
Loads and load combinations can also be generated automatically by the program.
W-truss
All input is done according to Truss and Frame truss.
Types
W and WW trusses can be generated from this Wizard by activating any of the bottom right buttons.
Bracing
If this option is activated the top chord is assumed laterally supported the upper edge when a design is performed.

Loads and load combinations can also be generated automatically by the program.
Swedish truss
All input is done according to Truss and Frame truss.
Bracing
If this option is activated the top chord is assumed laterally supported the upper edge when a design is performed.

T-truss
All input is done according to Truss and Frame truss.
Types
Two types of T-trusses can be generated from this wizard by activating any of the bottom right buttons.
Bracing
If this option is activated the top chord is assumed laterally supported the upper edge when a design is performed.

Rafter
All input is done according to Truss and Frame truss.
Types
Two types of rafters can be generated from this wizard by activating any of the bottom right buttons.

Saddle truss
All input is done according to Truss and Frame truss.
Loads and load combinations can also be generated automatically by the program.
Ridge truss
All input is done according to Truss and Frame truss.
Two types of ridge trusses can be generated from this Wizard by activating any of the bottom right buttons.
Loads and load combinations can also be generated automatically by the program.
Parallel truss
All input is done according to Truss and Frame truss.
Loads and load combinations can also be generated automatically by the program.
Reversed truss
All input is done according to Truss and Frame truss.
Loads and load combinations can also be generated automatically by the program.
Purlin
Number of spans, left and right end-support, overlap distance for each span, loads and a potential reduction of stiffness at overlaps, are stated for purlins. An image of the beam can be previewed in the Wizard while defining input data.
Gerber beam
- Number of spans
- Left end-support conditions
- Right end-support conditions
- Span length(s)
- Loads
- Distance to hinges
An image of the beam can be previewed in the Wizard while defining input data.
Continuous beam
- Number of spans
- Left end-support conditions
- Right end-support conditions
- Span length(s)
An image of the beam can be previewed in the Wizard while defining input data.
Column
The length and the upper and lower end-support are stated for columns.
Gridframe
The number of stories and spans are defined with their measures in order to quickly build up a frame with a lot of spans and stories.
Arch
This is where the span and height of the arch and the number of members the arch is to be divided into are stated. The height of the arch has to be more than half of the span.
Preview
With the Preview option current geometry can be studied in the wizard.
It is possible to give R negative values for an up-side-down arch:
