The user chooses windows from the menu bar by clicking on a suitable menu-text that will make a corresponding window to open or to show a submenu if there is any. There can be submenus in several levels. By clicking on a submenu option again the user will eventually open a corresponding window.

Some menu-options can be marked in grey. This means that the input data that has been given so far makes it unsuitable to open the window in question, which is why it has been marked in grey.

File

Contains commands for different functions such as open already saved information, save information and make printouts. Several of the File options are identical to other Windows programs.

New

Initiates a new file for calculation data input. The user can calculate several problems at the same time.

Open

Retrieves input data from a previous calculation. A list onsaved input data files is shown (files that end with *.cfs).

Close

Closes currently active file.

Save

Saves input data for current calculation in the file with the current file name. Save is not to be used until after having used Save as.

Save as

Saves input data for current calculation in a file with a filename different from the current.

Layout

Affects the printout appearance.

Print options

Makes it possible to select what is to be printed.

Print preview

This function makes it possible to study the exact outcome of the chosen printout on the screen.

Print

This function is used for printing input data and results.

Print settings

This function is used for specifying the printout in terms of type of printer, paper width and so on.

Exit

Ends Retaining Wall.

View

This function is used for controlling the graphic drawing on the screen.

Toolbar

Makes it possible to hide and restore the toolbar.

Status bar

Makes it possible to hide and restore the status bar.

Geometry

Makes it possible to get current geometry displayed.

Settlement

Makes it possible to activate the settlement picture.

Input

This is the menu option where the user defines the problem.

Title

This function is used for specifying general information on the current calculation example.

Material

The material conditions of the foundation are being defined.

Reinforcement

The diameter of the reinforcement and cover are defined.

Geometry

Current geometric data is being defined.

Loads

Current loads are defined.

Back- and frontfill data

Here the relevant input for the filling material are defined.

Ground properties

Here soil type and other related parameters are defined.

Settlement

Here the necessary input for a settlement calculation is defined. In case the settlement module is missing this option is inactive.

A more thorough description of input data that can be defined is found on this page.

Calculate

The calculation will start when you click on Calculate.

Analysis

Performs the calculation.

Design

Performs the design.

Settlement

If the settlement module is present current settlement is calculated. Only possible if analysis and design has been performed earlier.

Result

For the four cases Serviceability Limit State and Ultimate Limit State with full and reduced surcharge load can the following results be displayed:

Ground pressure check

Control of ground pressure capacity.

Sliding check

Control of sliding capacity.

Section forces at the toe

The analysis results for the toe are displayed.

Section forces at the wall

The analysis results for the wall are displayed.

Section forces at the heel

The analysis results for the wall are displayed.

These results are displayed for two different load patterns, Earth pressure against wall and Earth pressure against failure surface.

When the Design is performed the following results can be displayed:

Reinforcement in toe

Displays the required reinforcement with regard to all loadcases.

Reinforcement in wall

Displays the required reinforcement with regard to all loadcases.

Reinforcement in heel

Displays the required reinforcement with regard to all loadcases.

Shear check

Shear capacity check at toe, wall and heel.

Serviceability check

Displays crack moment and crack width in toe, wall and heel.

Anchorage lengths

The necessary anchorage lengths are checked.

Settlement

The settlement is calculated and checked against the given criteria.

Draw Reinforcement

The current reinforcement distribution are presented graphically.

Windows

New window

Used to open a new window for the same example, thus giving the user the possibility to have several pictures belonging to the same example visible at the same time.

Cascade

This function is used for arranging the document windows that are currently shown, in a way that makes them cascade each other.

Tile horizontally

Used for arranging the currently shown document windows so that they all can be shown in full.

Tile vertically

Used for arranging the currently shown document windows so that they all can be shown in full.

Arrange

This function is used for arranging the different calculation example icons that might be on the screen.

Help
